Shawn Day, Daily Press (Newport News, Virginia), March 13, 2008

A writer and commentator who opposes multiculturalism and diversity initiatives is scheduled to speak this evening at the College of William and Mary.

Jared Taylor, editor of the racial issues publication American Renaissance, is set to speak at 8 p.m. in the University Center’s Tidewater Room A. The event is free and open to the public.

Taylor was invited to speak by members of a student group that works on The Remnant, a conservative publication on campus. Although The Remnant is a recognized student group, it is not funded by the university, college spokesman Brian Whitson said.

School officials have worked to increase campus diversity in recent years, and although they disagree with Taylor’s viewpoint, they were not going to prevent him from speaking on campus, Whitson said.

John Kennedy, a student and one of The Remnant group members, said he invited Taylor to speak because university officials offer blind support for diversity. “Jared Taylor holds some views that I do not agree with, but he is also a very intelligent man and well-capable of defending his position through reasonable arguments,” Kennedy wrote in an e-mail.

“His talk will be about how diversity is a weakness and not a strength.”

As of Wednesday, Kennedy said, Taylor’s appearance will be unpaid, although Student Assembly members were discussing whether to cover Taylor’s travel expenses from Northern Virginia.

Interesting how certain universities are more tolerant than others on the subject of diversity and differing views. It is usually the more liberal institutions that have difficulty accepting alternative viewpoints, ironically. I hope that Mr. Taylor’s discussion is successful and that the attendees realize the legitimacy of his position.

The College of William and Mary sounds like fairly civilized place.

Unlike Michigan State University, which is clearly run by intellectual barbarians and ideological xenophobes.

While I would like to praise Mr Kennedy for having the courage to invite Mr Taylor, he does sort of wimp out with the obligatory “Mr Taylor holds some views that I do not agree with” qualifier.

The subtitle of the post on the front of AmRen uses the words “question diversity” together. A lot of cars have “Question Authority” bumper stickers, I think a lot more should have “Question Diversity.”

The greatest threat possible to the ideology of diversity, which is based on lies, exaggerations, half-truths, a blind acceptance of propaganda and mental conditioning, is exposure to the truth, a free exchange of ideas, and vigorous debate. The multicults are fully aware of this.

Is it any wonder they fight so hysterically to stifle information and debate, as in the Michigan University debacle?

Jared Taylor is making a difference every single time he speaks or debates the local bigot.

Thanks to people like the above he’s able to get our views aired from time to time, and if we’re finally able to turn the situation more toward our favor, to a great degree it will because men like him.

I hope he gets a chance to speak is all I can say. The lefties are playing dirtier and dirtier as time goes on, especially as savvy people like Jared Taylor are honing their message and learning to deliver it more effectively. Taylor needs bodyguards, but watch out for even dirtier tricks from the opposition like pulling fire alarms to keep people they don’t like from speaking.

I take exception to describing Taylor viewpoint as “alternative”. Although it is not politically correct to speak about it openly, his views represent the way the majority of whites think and for exactly the reasons why. Most whites KNOW about the problems with blacks and immigrants, but are split three ways between those who admit it, those in denial and those that are only partially awake to the implications this has for the quality of life of themselves and their families. The more time passes, the greater number of these people that awaken to just how serious the problem is.

It’s the radical left that is in the minority, not Jared Taylor.

I would love to hear how it went. Could you post about it Mr. Taylor?

DIVERSITY MEANS FAVORS FOR ALL BUT WHITE AMERICANS! Diversity denies race & favors foreign ethnics. I noticed the journalist Union removed race as description for suspects. An entire global movement has been created to deny race and replace it with diversity. Meanwhile, all real Amreicans watch our country disintegrate for universalists beliefs. To be white and strive for purity is replaced with being brown and without boundaries. Sounds easy to prefer and leaves out the cultural differences we mostly disagree upon. The idea USA people must accept all others way of life who come to live here is anti-American. USA law first. V

Colleges love diversity but they don’t like diversity of opinion.

Maybe it’s a good strategy to give very little notice for appearances like this. That way, the thought police brown-shirts don’t have enough time to mobilize. A brief talk here, an unexpected speech there - it’s like guerrilla warfare against the minions of evil.

I’d be willing to put that bumper sticker on my car. Maybe others would, as well.

In that spirit, I’m changing my AR posting handle to “Question Diversity.” The left-wingers love to run around with “Question Authority” bumper stickers, yet the pro-diversity mentality has become the authority. So for a right-winger to question diversity is by definition questioning authority. A nickname like “Question Diversity” is a nice, snappy two-word imperative that might actually encourage people to do just that, and would be a lot more effective than the one I used to use, “St. Louis CofCC Blogmeister.”
