NEXT month the Burning Bush Baptist Church will hold its first service in a converted Sears department store. When the church was founded, in 1995, it had a congregation of 12. About 750 now attend Sunday services, and more are joining all the time. One reason for the church’s growth is the oratorical skill of David Denson, its pastor. Another is that Burning Bush is a mostly black church, and there are a lot more blacks around these days.
Between 2000 and 2006 the black population of Victorville and Apple Valley swelled from 11,900 to 24,500. Two hours’ drive from central Los Angeles and surrounded by Joshua trees, it is an improbable black haven. Victorville is a former military town on the edge of the Mojave desert to which Orson Welles exiled the writers of “Citizen Kane” to ensure they would finish the film without distractions.
Yet Victorville is typical. Other sprawling exurbs, such as Palmdale and Lancaster, are also seeing an influx of blacks looking for cheaper housing and safer streets. They reveal a dramatic shift in southern California’s population, and provide clues to how America is changing.
Victorville’s gain is Los Angeles’ loss. Since 1990 the city’s black population has dropped by a quarter, from 488,000 to 364,000, even as the overall number of residents rose. The exodus is most noticeable in areas where blacks were once concentrated, such as Compton and Crenshaw. The population of the 35th congressional district, over which the old-fashioned race warrior Maxine Waters holds sway, is now less than one-third black. “It’s becoming hard to find black neighbourhoods,” says Dowell Myers, a demographer at the University of Southern California.
It is not easy to find them in Victorville, either. The city has black apartment buildings and the odd black street but no black districts. Nor do the other cities to which blacks are moving. So far, at least, southern California’s ghettos seem to be disintegrating, not relocating. Price alone seems to determine where the new arrivals settle. “If you’ve got the money, you can move wherever you want,” says Eloise Gibson, a retired teacher in Victorville.
A similar drift is evident in northern California, where blacks are leaving the Bay Area for inland spots such as Stockton and Sacramento. Across America blacks are leaving inner-city areas. William Frey, a geographer at the Brookings Institution, a think-tank, calculates that the black population of suburban counties increased by a startling 26.5% between 2000 and 2006. They seem to be moving farther out of the city, and faster, in southern California than anywhere else.
A big reason is immigration. New arrivals from Latin America and Asia have pushed up rents in the metropolis. Until recently they pushed up house prices, too, benefiting the roughly 40% of black householders in south-central Los Angeles who own property. They could afford to move on. Immigrants have also blurred racial lines, producing a kind of confused tolerance. Boundaries that might be stark if there were only two races are a lot harder to police when there are more, especially since the groups are gradually blending.
Most of all, Mr Myers says, high house-prices have forced different groups together. In southern California people will happily trade ethnic homogeneity for an extra bedroom. It helps that most of the places blacks are moving are fast-growing, with little sense of history. Victorville has no traditionally white areas because it has no traditional areas of any kind.
Black churches are the clearest sign of Victorville’s changing demography. These do not, however, resemble the community edifices that one finds in more established neighbourhoods. Many meet in shops or living rooms. Mr Denson’s attracts the biggest black congregation in the area, he says, largely because he caters to commuters who want to spend precious hours with their families. He can get worshippers in and out in an hour and a half—quick for a black church.
Other changes are more worrying. Ken Jones, a high-school dropout who is learning construction skills, says his family moved from Los Angeles to get him away from gangs. It worked—he describes his life in Victorville as a “retirement”. But he says gangs and crime are becoming entrenched. Between 2000 and 2006 the number of robberies in Victorville increased by 62%. “They bring their lifestyle with them,” says Jim Melton, a youth worker.
At the moment, one of the engines that has driven this migration is stalling. Victorville and Apple Valley are mired in a housing crisis: San Bernardino county had 22,000 foreclosures last year, compared with 7,800 in 1996. Fewer people are moving as house prices fall. Yet this seems to have slowed, not stopped, the black exodus from Los Angeles. The pull of the suburbs is strong.

This is bad news for white people. I live in an area outside of Sacramento where there are few blacks. We have a low crime rate and it reminds me of the Bay Area when I was a kid. I am sorry to say this but any large black influx will mean that we move. I will not let my children live aound these people, there are too many problems. Unless we find our own areas and make it so blacks can’t emigrate there, we are doomed.

I live near to Victorville and have watched this unfold. Thankfully, I live in an all-white community in the far-reaches and we are all armed to the teeth!
But, one thing the article left out was the transient nature of Victorville’s blacks. Not all of them are staying around. I would almost argue that the black population has actually DROPPED back down again to almost just-above what it once was.
In the rare moments when I am able to have a civil conversation with some of the blacks while in town shopping, I hear disgruntled tones. Most of them aren’t happy in Victorville. It is a cold—very cold—desert in the winter and very, very hot in the summer and there are rattlesnakes everywhere! They also complain about limited social services and public transit. There is also a long-established Hispanic population here and they don’t rub together well at all. I also hear blacks complaing about the “raciss” nature of the local white population — most of which are rough-around-the-edges redneck-types.
I hear so many blacks complain about the area, then talk about an “auntie” back in Georgia or a “cuz” out in Texas and then say that they are going to move to those places. I believe many already have and more may be following.
One thing’s for sure: they can’t go back to LA! for one, they can’t afford it and secondly, they would surely be killed by the Hispanics, Armenians, Russians and Persians who now control LA’s streets.

In 20 years, the lower rungs of the success ladder will all be occupied by hispanics. Blacks will live mostly as a criminal/welfare underclass living under extreme second class citizenship status. Probably, they will be restricted to certain areas of the country and not allowed to leave. A form of american apartheid.
At least that is the logical conclusion based on the behavior of our politicians in both parties, plus the behavior of corporate america. No one says it (yet) but there is a disturbing uniformity of policy and selective enforcement of the law towards these ends.

What utter nonsense. Houses are so much cheaper in black neighorhoods. If it were all about more square feet for your money, whites would be moving to black neighborhoods in droves. Instead, they go to great lengths and move to much smaller houses to live in a safe neighborhood that is as near to homogenous as they can get. Now Blacks are doing the same thing as Mestizos move into their neighborhoods.

I’ve met people who lived in Palmdale and Lancaster. They’ve said that in the last ten years or so, it’s gone from being a fairly clean and peaceful suburb to being the sort of place usually seen in an episode of “Cops”. The blacks have brought crime, so prevalent in what they (ridiculously) call their “communities”, with them.

I was born in 1950 as a first generation american Italian when I attended public schools I was exposed to hispanics and so called non-whites of various shades. I found them all to be the most assimilated along with the asians (chinese, japanese, korean & indian/pakistanis). I attended Brooklyn Technical high school. We all were there because we passed a standardized admission test. It was not a matter of white & non white but a matter of light & non black. Light people value civility & education
blacks do not as a whole. Blacks who do share the same values are ostracized and targeted for violence because they are considered race traitors. If they wish to survive in their communities without retribution they must succumb to the terrorist demands of their community. If they don’t bow down to status quo they will be either beaten down or killed. How can they ever alleviate themselves of the status quo without endangering their welfare? The light & black dynamic can never be mediated. It can only be controlled by the dominance of light over darkness. End of story. Screw the egalitarian agenda it’s based on falsehoods.

These stories remind of an event, encountered by a field biologist, many years ago on the Zambezi river in Africa.
You see, the Zambezi river is distinguished by hosting a breeding population of Bull Sharks (one of the largest and most aggressive species known), which is also the only specie of shark known to tolerate fresh water.
The Zambezi also hosts a thriving Crocodile population.
Well, our intrepid naturalist managed to witness a very rare and prized sight - the sight of a Bull Shark and a Crocodile locked together in a death match, of which there could only be one winner, the loser providing ‘dinner’ to the winner.

Blacks are moving out of the city of Atlanta and heading for the suburbs because of the cost of living is ever so rising and homes prices are going up. I moved to a suburb and had a home invasion within 2 weeks. I didn’t know at the time that Henry County was being over populated with “Africans”. I’ll be moving back into the city of Atlanta when my lease is up. It’s rediculous. It’s already becoming run down. Why do county officials allow affordable to take place like this? Why won’t someone and do something about it? My guess is PC. They have brought this onto themsleves. They play the race card and blame the white man, but we really know better than that.

I grew up in Inglewood, Caliornia in the 50’s and 60’s, and saw first hand what happens to a city that turns predominantly black. I moved to Victorville in 1982, and witnessed the same thing, again moving away in 2000. I now live in Tucson, and see the same thing happening. Where does it end?

I have lived in the Lancaster-Palmdale area for the last 50 years. It was once a peaceful area where white kids could play outside but no more. Crime was unheard of. But no more. The blacks and Mexicans have turned it into a hell hole. My wife has been robbed leaving a grocery store, my house has been burglarized, my truck stolen, shootings, stabbings, home take overs, robberies of all kinds routine. We have a special L.A. Sheriff gang patrol along with hundreds of other police that take down bangers right off the street. I see it all the time. I don’t go out at night. I watch my back all the time. I am well armed. I have to be. My daughters moved to New York City where it is safe. I can’t wait to get the hell out of here.

Back in the 70’s, many White Angelinos thought Palmdale and Lancaster were ideal places to retire to, or move their famlies to, even if it involved a long commute. For a while there, they were delighted when new schools cropped up, and new malls were built, because there still was a sense of seclusion. Today both Lancaster and Palmdale are becoming just as bad. When you can’t even find refuge from crime and gang activity in the desert, without having it follow you there. It seems obvious there is almost nowhere left to go. People can build new communities is, but soon the same problems and problematic people will eventually follow them.*

The racial analysis is flawed and replete with oversights. The Blacks who are moving are buying homes in the affordable areas of California. Yes, there are a few. This “phenomenon” can be seen any place in which Blacks have had access of mortgage money. Southfield, MI comes to mind; Blacks left inner city Detriot in droves. The Latino community, many of who recently got here, were not in a position to take advantage of the recent mortgage opportunities. Many are concentrated in areas of high gang activity and unable to leave. Latino gangs or Black gangs, each are just as likely to kill someone like themselves as they are to kill someone else. You just have to have the misfortune of being in the vicinity. It’s really that simple. Race is a casuality not a cause.

I could say that this is poetic justice and leave things at that. But the fact is the slime enters where you least expect it. In Sterling, Virginia (in Loudoun County), not far from where I live, you’ve got a major Hispanic and black population increase. And — shocker! — a major crime increase as well. The rotten Hispanic gang, MS-13, is very big up here in Northern Virginia. When will this end already?

Latinos pushing Blacks out into the suburbs is another gift of mass third world immigration. Whites have already fled the cities by the millions, now the older suburbs are being wrecked by the Black influx.
Someday we’ll have nowhere left to run to, and the only Whites who will enjoy any semblance of peace, safety and quality of life will be those rich enough to live in walled-off communities. The rest of us will be chum for the sharks and piranhas.

Back in the late 60’s through the 90’s, Southfield, Mi was an attractive destination for “middle class” blacks to buy a nice house. Southfield was a city with a good, predominately white, school system. Rather than stay in Detroit-proper — which had/has a notorious bad predominately black school system — many educated blacks, understandably, chose Southfield to purchase a house rather than Detroit. But now the Southfield School system is 90% black, so blacks are moving to West Bloomfield and other predominantly White suburbs in droves.
Today, even the vast majority of poorer working-class/welfare class blacks want to move out of Detroit. Those that have the means to leave, do so. Even given the choice between living in a large, very affordable, single family houses in Detroit, they chose to live in cramped rental apartments in the White suburbs. Why? They want to escape the social pathologies of their own people. The only problem with that is, they bring their UNDERcivilized behaviors with them. The large number of undercivilized blacks moving from Detroit into White suburbs is causing the cycle of white-flight to repeat itself.
What is amazing to me is: Mexicans must be so bad to live around, even underclass blacks are fleeing from them. That really says something!

This is true. The government is afraid of the overtly socialistic politics of blacks. It may seem as outdated as the dinosaurs to mainstream whites but the irrational messianistic movement known as communism appeals to blacks. African politics reek of it. The communist influence on the civil rights movement, including, of course, MLK, is well-documented. Whatever you may think of them, the Mexican element largely is nationalistic and has no designs on us based on some communistic ideology. They’re not as repugnant to the government as black communists. I think the government will let in as many Mexicans as it needs to counter black political extremism. Reconquista is of course threatening on its face but black political extremism is organized insanity and is intolerable. Consider Zimbabwe.

Well, it is a good idea to step out of the box, so to speak, and consider it from that angle. The conflict between blacks and Mexicans for the first rung on the ladder is only going to sharpen. Blacks are at their most vulnerable time in recent history, I think. Their leftist tendencies are well-known as is African political history. I am suspicious that the domestic intelligence arm of the Federal government is very aware of communist influence, having had almost a century to ponder it.
