White candidates should be barred from standing for Parliament in up to eight constituencies in order to get more black and Asian MPs elected, says a controversial report commissioned by Labour’s deputy leader, Harriet Harman.
Positive discrimination is illegal in the UK, but the report concludes that, without a change in the law allowing parties to impose all-black shortlists, it would take more than 75 years for Britain’s ethnic make-up to be fairly reflected at Westminster.
The findings come amid questions over Britain’s failure to develop a home-grown equivalent of Barack Obama, the black presidential hopeful. Although there have been three black cabinet ministers since 1997—Paul Boateng and Valerie Amos, both of whom have since moved on, and Baroness Scotland, the Attorney General—no politician of the stature of Obama, US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice or her predecessor, Colin Powell, has emerged.
Harman is understood to be still considering the report’s findings in detail, but has expressed personal support for a change.
Simon Woolley of Operation Black Vote and the author of the review, said talented candidates were not ‘getting past go’ at the moment. ‘The change in the law is not a sledgehammer to crack a nut; it’s not forcing parties to use all-black shortlists,’ he said. ‘But unless we take positive action measures we are not going to have a representative democracy for more than 75 years. It’s not that we don’t have Obamas, but we don’t have the mechanisms for them to see the light of day.’
His report is understood to conclude that all-black shortlists would be needed for two decades, after which talented candidates could be expected to make it on their own. It identifies 100 constituencies with large ethnic minority communities as prime targets for shortlists, but concludes that positive discrimination would be needed in only four to eight of those seats for four elections in a row to ensure that the proportion of ethnic minority MPs matches the proportion in the population.
Woolley’s findings are likely to be controversial, with any proposal to change the law risking a rough ride in the Commons. Last week, former minister Keith Vaz introduced a backbench bill proposing all-black shortlists, which was instantly condemned by Tory backbencher Philip Davies as ‘politically correct’ and divisive.
However, Vaz is lobbying Harman for the measure to be included in a bill on equality issues later this year—meaning it could be on the statute book by 2009. ‘She is the person who has a huge history of supporting these issues,’ he added.
Woolley said that a change in the law could help the Tories by putting David Cameron’s A-List—a pool of candidates, many of them women or from ethnic minorities, singled out for the fast track to the irritation of some white men—on a firm legal footing.
His report was commissioned by Harman last autumn to examine the merits of positive discrimination. Only 2 per cent of MPs are black or Asian, compared with more than 7 per cent of the general population.

It was inevitable. First step: “equal” opportunity, then lowering of standards to accommodate them better, then preferential treatment, then affirmative action. Then quotas that the authorities deny are quotas, but merely “targets” or “goals”. And so on. Eventually (if whites continue to be so meek and passive) there will be positions and whole careers entirely closed to whites, with none of the devious number-fudging and pretenses that we engage in now. It will be plain, outright anti-white discrimination without apologies or excuses. At least it will be honest. “Whites need not apply.”

It wouldn’t work out that way. That’s not how it goes. We know from experience that once a government program is instituted, there’s no going back. It continues and even expands, beyond all imagining.
But that does raise an interesting question. Will any minorities that may perhaps be OVER-represented as per their proportion of the population be required to trim back their numbers? We’ll see, but I doubt that will come up.

OK - so now we are going to start breaking laws for proper racial balance. Perhaps a better law to break is to forcibly deport 75% of Asian/blacks, in order to achieve racial balance. This scheme would also have other benefits. One broken law is the same as the next.

The black population in Britain is much smaller than in the U.S. Something like 1-2%, rather than 12-13%. Why would they automatically have their own Obama? Is “Obama” now to be some kind of state office, such as “Lord Privy Obama”? Do they need their own Obama? They are welcome to ours.

It’s funny how race isn’t supposed to exist - unless it’s existence serves the agenda of Affirmative Action.
If ‘scientists’ tell us there’s no way of dividing the races, how will the Labour party? A White person could open up a big can of worms by applying for the role, describe himself as ‘black’ and demand the selection panel prove otherwise. Some Chinese people have lighter skin than a tanned white person. Will they bring out the tape-measures and cranial-calipers, Mengele style?
Still, this gives the BNP plenty of ammunition. For years they’ve been criticized for selecting only white candidates - now Labour are selecting black/Asian candidates. And given the choice of a black or white candidate can only mean a shift of votes to the BNP. Bring it on!

Britain’s ethnic makeup is White. And it certainly wouldn’t take 75 years to restore. It just takes some stones.

The assumption is that all blacks are alike, all Whites are alike, all members of each ethnic group are alike, and can only be represented by one of their own (as long as that one tows the marxist line). I’d rather be represented by Alan Keyes, Thomas Sowell, or Herman Cain, than Ted Kennedy, Barney Frank, or Dennis Kucinich.

This is great news for the BNP.
For years this has gone on in local elections and now its at the national level.
Many court cases have been held to convict people over voting frauds in the UK. Needless to say these are all muslim councellors. The largest case, in Birmingham, resulted in the judge stating that what he had seen would disgrace a “banana republic”.
Nuff said!
Now it is opened up for people to vote along racial lines with no embarassment as the MP’s will have already been selected on racial lines.
The old splits of Right/Left will dissapear as we move into the realms of ethnic voting and, later, violence.

They were gotten out of the way to make space for immigrants. After the country was wrecked and the male polulation decimated, a swarm of immigrants was needed to rebuild it. And there was a surplus of British women in need of husbands. How convenient. That’s what the Wars seem to have been about. They certainly didn’t accomplish anything for Britain, except to reduce it a 2nd rate country with a 3rd world population.

I doubt they will for much longer. Labour really overplayed their hand with this move. Even liberal whites have got to be scratching their heads as they read about this. The BNP couldn’t have come up with a better scenario than this if they tried. Just give the multi-cults enough rope and they will hang themselves.
