LONDON: Several Immigrant support groups today accused the British government of being “discriminatory” and “vindictive” in its treatment of skilled Indian and other non-EU migrants in the UK.
The groups expressed their displeasure over proposed changes made to the Highly Skilled Migrant Programme (HSMP) to coincide with British Immigration Minister Liam Byrne’s visit to India.
Amit Kapadia, Executive Director of HSMP Forum, said, “We feel the HSMP retrospective changes have been the worst of the immigration changes.”
“The Home Office has been inconsiderate, discriminatory and inhuman by applying these changes on those who already established their lives in the UK.”
He said thousands of Indians and other Non-EU nationals and their families are being treated “dishonourably” by the Home Office by forcing them to wind up their careers, businesses and schooling of their children after being invited by the Government with promises of work and settlement.
Since the HSMP started in 2002, the British government has invited skilled professionals like Doctors, Engineers, Technical personnel, Accountants and Entrepreneurs from other countries. But stringent rules mean that 90 per cent of them don’t qualify for extensions after their initial tenure ends.
Mikhail Spivakov, coordinator of another immigrant support organisation, Voice of Britain’s Skilled Immigrants (VBSI), said “Over the last few years, the Home Office has started to implement changes to immigration policy that have been described as vindictive.”

It is long overdue for these so called “highly skilled” folks to start applying their skills in their home countries where they are desperately needed. One only needs to see how many disease ridden people there are roaming around with the cows throughout the streets of India’s cities to realize that such a backward society needs it’s doctors to stay in country.

They’re upset that New India, formerly known as Britain, will take longer to achieve.

India does not allow immigration and neither does China. They allow a few foreigners over to work temporarily provided they are needed, that’s all. All of these non-whites need to stop being hypocritical.

India the Superpower has sooo many Doctors, Engineers, Technical personnel, Accountants and Entrepreneurs. Now after having made their country into first world paradise they feel obliged to civilize the rest of the world. Thank you guys, it is so generous of you.

Since WHEN does any third-world country have the right to DICTATE to a first-world nation what that first-world nation’s immigration policy is to be?
It’s high time all White nations look the third-world governments in the collective eye and invite them to pound sand or whatever the local idiom might be.
If India is that concerned about its people, LET THE INDIAN GOVERNMENT accept responsibility for them. Let the government subsidize businesses and companies locally to provide work to its surplus population. Better yet, let INDIA enforce birth-control on its population to thin down the surplus! We Whites DO NOT OWE ANY COUNTRY A DAMNED THING other than leaving them in peace to solve their own political problems.

This is rather strange.. we in England are not permitted to refer to pakistani muslims as such.. just as asians. But indians (not the cowboy & indian kind) are asians too. So are all others in japan, malaysia, philippines, singapore, chinese and many more. I wonder if the archbishop would care to comment on this?

If Indians want to send immigrants to Britain, quid pro quo, an equal number of immigration slots should be reserved for Britians to immigrate to India. These slots could then be traded with other countries. Britain for example could give these open slots to poor countries in Africa, and I would like to see millions and millions of black Africans move to India to become Indian citizens and marry Indian women and live in India forever. Quid Pro Quo.

Quid pro quo is a very good idea. Just small difference is needed. Let it be percentagewise because that is what decides the voting power of any minority in a country. If Indians are 5 percent (3 million) of 60 million population in Britain then India is obliged to take in 5 percent of 1100 million. If Britain is not capabale to fill the qouta (55 million) it could be traded with african or asian nations which will not have any problem with it.

Yorkshireman: The word “Asian” is just as deliberately non-descriptive and vague as the word “Hispanic” and is utilized for the same reason. It is an attempt by government to define each of these peoples with a defining word they believe is greater than the sum of its largely insignificant parts. They use geographical definitives in lieu of racial and cultural ones in an attempt to regionalize and dehumanize people. However, a Pakistani has no more in common with a Japanese than a Mexican Aztec has with a white Argentinean…
