Subject: Stop Hate Speech at MSU!
MSU President Simon,

I was appalled to hear that the MSU student group Young Americans for Freedom is bringing white supremacist Jared Taylor to give a lecture on the perils of “multiculturism.”

MSU-YAF has brought many overtly racist speakers in the past and is recognized as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center. Contrary to the claim of YAF that disallowing these speakers would violate their First Amendment rights, it is an issue of hate speech rather than that of free speech. Jared Taylor attempts to justify racism through empirical thought and asserts that there is a natural racial hierarchy. He utilizes the guise of intellectual discourse to proselytize hate. Taylor uses scientific ultrarationality—similar to that used by Hitler during the holocaust—to defend his prejudice against non-white races.

There is a distinct difference between free speech and hate speech. Taylor’s abhorrence of non-white races, as formed into lectures advocating the subjugation of any person who is non-white, are not protected under the Constitution. Speech that aims to portray people of color as less than human and innately inferior is both morally repugnant and an assault on basic human rights.

Additionally, both YAF and the MSU administration have failed to provide the source of funding by which racist speakers, such as Jared Taylor, are compensated for their lectures at the university. The lack of transparency and the unwillingness of both YAF and the MSU administration is suspect, and I urge MSU to account for the origins of funding for this hate group.

Taylor will not bring about any intellectual discussion or analysis of race issues and his lecture can only serve to further divide people of different races and cultures. This is why I demand that the MSU administration cancel the Jared Taylor event and take action against hate speech on campus.

Putting aside the fact that Mr. Taylor’s views constitute anything but “hate speech,” this attempted distinction between that and “free speech” is simply laughable. Fortunately, our courts are well aware that the First Amendment exists precisely to protect unpopular speech from suppression. I would urge any MSU students who visit this site to write countering letters to their administration making this point.

Who here didnt see this coming?

“Hate speech” Another term coined by liberals. And only they get to decide what hate speech is. And of course only whites can be guilty of this offense. If Mr Taylor is denied his right to free speech by these enlightened useful idiots, I’d suggest a very costly lawsuit.

Mr Taylor, please dont forget to take some muscle AND cameras to record those who would deny you your rights as an American, guaranteed by the United States Constitution. Good luck to you sir.

Every AR reader should send an e mail to MSU in favor of Jared Taylor speaking at the University. Just who defines free speech anyway SPLC or the US Bill of Rights.

Posted by Burr Hamilton at 6:19 PM on February 4

When people so vehemently oppose one’s right to speak, it speak’s volumes. They are scared, they know that they cannot refute Jared Taylor’s views so they wish to silence him altogether. Not only are they cowards, they are also deeply confused as to what the Constitution and the First Amendment are. Evidently they truly believe that something called “hate speech” is illegal. Of course they decide just what “hate speech” is.

Posted by Eric at 6:33 PM on February 4

I hope that Jared Taylor gets a chance to talk …..but that would be asking too much…the blacks simply will not allow it and what they say goes….

Posted by lydia at 6:42 PM on February 4

“scientific ultrarationality”?? I’ve never heard of that one before. Apparently, if you’re irrational, anything else must be “ultrarational”.

Posted by jewamongyou at 6:50 PM on February 4

Wow! Total lies. This type of slander should be outlawed. These dumbells don’t have a leg to stand on so must resort to lies so that white people cannot hear the truth. Amazing.

“Contrary to the claim of YAF that disallowing these speakers would violate their First Amendment rights, it is an issue of hate speech rather than that of free speech.”

Yes, these people are not the peace-loving people we are who throw pies in the faces of guest speakers, rush the stage and attack them, shout and carry on so they can’t be heard, and if all that fails, we get together in a mob, many of us wearing bandanas over our faces, and riot. And, to cap the evening’s festivities to show them how broad-minded and peaceful we are, we form a mob and attack lone stragglers.

Fox News was so supportive they showed a segment of us ganging up on a speaker, Representative Tom Tancredo, screaming and carrying on disallowing him to be heard, when he arrived to speak. The nation saw our distaste for these haters on Hannity and Colmes, as well they should have, and I have no doubt we made the university proud and brought many others on our side. For certain, the national T.V. audience marvelled at our good behaviour and our tolerance to hear another point of view.

Too, I want to point out that these people are fanatics, another reason to not allow Taylor to speak. They’re all well-dressed, speak softly and intelligently, but it’s all just a trick to get us to drop our guard. It looks like we’re going to have to resort to one of our well-known tactics to keep them away by crying, screaming, holding hands and chanting, and many of us will be chaining ourselves together in front of the auditorium, hysterical with grief, as the tears roll down our faces, in a heroic attempt to keep these narrow-minded racists from entering and listening to their speaker give his views on what he believes. Such fanatism, bigotry, and racism must be stopped, because whites are evil.

If you allow this man to speak, he could well destroy the hateful image the SPLC and our group has promoted over the past several years against haters who hold traditional American values. How can we continue along that line if you allow this man to quote facts, statistics and truthful accounts?

Too, by allowing Taylor to speak you will encourage his followers to make veiled threats, so if you know what’s good for you, you will NOT allow him to speak.

“Taylor will not bring about any intellectual discussion or analysis of race issues and his lecture can only serve to further divide people of different races and cultures. This is why I demand that the MSU administration cancel the Jared Taylor event and take action against hate speech on campus.”

If the anti’s really thought that Taylor had such a weak argument, they would challenge him to a debate in a heartbeat. The fact that they don’t dare debate him and are asking for his lecture to be shut down is proof that the truth is not on their side.

“There is a distinct difference between free speech and hate speech.”

Either “hate” speech is protected by free speech or free speach does not exist.

Anti’s love to preech about freedom but they sure don’t like to practice it.

Posted by True Resistance at 6:58 PM on February 4

By the artificial category of “hate speech” the leftists attempt to shut down free speech.

In reality, they, by not allowing free speech, are guilty of censorship; only, to play their game, we must call it something else, like “fettering discourse” or “Brown-shirt bully tactics.”

But these people are not rational. They do not even take a view of things that Mr. Taylor has written. He has never displayed “abhorrence of non-White races” or portrayed “people of color as less than human and inately inferior.”

What we have here is a battle for decency and truth, and the liberals at MSU are for neither.

Posted by Garvin Alfred Schmaltz at 7:00 PM on February 4

A difference between “free speech” and “hate speech”? Oh, how too, too convenient for those who want to stifle free speech by CALLING it hate speech.

Once again, we should all urge Mr. Taylor: Take some protection with you. Don’t be a patsy for these haters on the left. They’d like nothing better than seeing you there all on your lonesome so they can attack you like those idiots in Canada did.

And I notice that the Southern Poverty Law Center is lugged in by the ears again as an unimpeachable authority on what constitutes a “hate group.”

Posted by Wayne Engle at 7:05 PM on February 4

Taylor’s abhorrence of non-white races, as formed into lectures advocating the subjugation of any person who is non-white, are not protected under the Constitution. Speech that aims to portray people of color as less than human and innately inferior is both morally repugnant and an assault on basic human rights.

I haven’t read everything Mr. Taylor has ever written, but I’ve read quite a lot: enough to feel confident in denouncing the above as an utterly false and malicious distortion and fabrication of Mr. Taylor’s opinions about race. If there is such a chimera as “hate speech,” the above venomous diatribe of this “anti-racist” canaille that calls itself “Michigan Against White Supremacy” surely defines it.

Posted by Zorba_the_Geek at 7:21 PM on February 4

Whoa!! That’s pretty messed up. They don’t even want this dude to express his opinions? At a university?!? Man, that’s messed up. We are citizens of the United States and as citizens we have the ABSOLUTE right to express our opinions. I know, I know … I’m preaching to the choir on this forum … but I sure wish I lived near Michigan State University. I would volunteer to help usher Mr. Taylor to the podium. I may not agree with everything Mr. Taylor says (I personally think the Asians are superior), but I would defend with my reputation Mr. Taylor’s right to express his thoughts.

It’s hilarious that the author accuses Taylor of using “scientific ultra-rationality”.

First of all, “ultrarationality” is not even a word. Secondly, how is being rational (or “ultrarational” as the case may be) a bad thing?

Would the author prefer ultra-IRRATIONALITY? Judging by this email, apparently so….

Posted by bannister at 8:19 PM on February 4

So, Taylor is to have his freedom of speech stripped because of a liberal’s (political opponent’s) prediction of what he might say…

In other words, he’s to have his freedom taken away because of his beliefs, and the discussion of “hate speech” vs. free speech is a side show.

This sort of thing will bring more & more people to the American Renaissance website.

I am glad to see that Kyle Bristow continues to bring in speakers that squeeze MSU between the rock of constitutional free speech and the hard place of their claims to being a pillar of diversity, multiculturalism, and tolerance. Speakers such as Nick Griffin and Jared Taylor try these claims in the fire of consistency.

While I do not agree with everything Jared Taylor advocates, I fully support his right to express his views at publicly funded campuses around this nation. It proves to me, and to America, that free speech and freedom of association are still alive, albeit under attack.

It is my hope to be one of those in attendance.

Oh, that pesky Bill of Rights, always getting in the way. Despite the protestations of the writer of the above message, the First Amendment does not contain an exception for speech which is “morally repugnant” (repugnant according to whom?) or which is an “assault on human rights.”

Those anti-Federalists were far wiser then they will ever know in persuading Madison and Hamilton to tack on the ten amendments.

Thanks to American Renaissanse, many of us now understand that “Hate Speech” is a Marxist political construct that was re-packaged in this country by the Anti-Defamation League and used to intimidate and silence their opponents. Thanks Jared Taylor. Keep up the good work!

Further proof that far-left “anti-racist” liberals are the most intolerant people on earth.

Posted by Old Victorian at 9:47 PM on February 4

Tolerance, by many, only works in one direction. If branded “RACIST” or “HATE SPEECH” by those who see things differently, they believe its argument and legitimacy cease to exist.

Posted by Ray Cist at 9:54 PM on February 4

Im at MSU and I plan to attend the event to see what Mr. Taylor has to say.

Posted by John at 9:58 PM on February 4

Wow. I’ve perused these forums for a while, and I never felt that Jared Taylor met this description. These whites, who hate the whites that take some racial pride, are despicable. They are the Hillary Clintons of the world and would like nothing better to join black nationalists in silencing us and perpetuating the lies of MC.

Posted by WOW at 11:07 PM on February 4

Funny they should bring up Hitler. He was pretty good at silencing people who didn’t agree with him as well.

Scientific ultrarationality?

You know, if things keep going the way they are, I can actually see a time when all rational thought and behavior will be illegal.

Posted by Dystopian Realist at 12:41 AM on February 5

I agree with the young man: Taylor is an ultrarational
scientific thinker. It’s a little convoluted but true. I would
say that Taylor is a very logical thinker and debater who is
conversant with scientific findings on race. The fact that the
young man said what he didn’t want to say says alot about his
logical abiilities as a thinker.

There is no such thing, constitutionally, as “hate speech.” “Hate speech” is usually speech that leftists hate, and would ban if they could.

Posted by Cassiodorus at 2:01 AM on February 5

Of course good ol’ George Orwell way back in 1948 had the measure of these people.
The term ‘newsspeak’ describes PC ridden language perfectly. For ‘diversity is strength’, substitute ‘war is peace’.

MSU President Simon,

I was appalled to hear that the MSU student group Young Americans for Freedom is bringing Spherical-Earth proponent Jared Taylor to give a lecture on the perils of “Flat-Earth theories.” MSU-YAF has brought many overtly heretical speakers in the past and is recognized as a blasphemous group by the Southern Poverty Law Center. Contrary to the claim of YAF that disallowing these speakers would violate their First Amendment rights, it is an issue of heretical speech rather than that of free speech. Jared Taylor attempts to justify Spherical-Earth theories through empirical thought and asserts that the Earth is not flat. He utilizes the guise of intellectual discourse to proselytize heresy. Taylor uses scientific ultrarationality—similar to that used by Galileo and Copernicus to defend his prejudice against Flat-earth theory.

There is a distinct difference between free speech and heretical speech. Taylor’s dismissal of Flat-Earth theory, as formed into lectures advocating Spherical-Earth theory, are blasphemous and heretical. Speech that aims to portray the earth as a sphere and not flat is both morally repugnant and an assault on our basic world view.

Additionally, both YAF and the MSU administration have failed to provide the source of funding by which heretical speakers, such as Jared Taylor, are compensated for their lectures at the university. The lack of transparency and the unwillingness of both YAF and the MSU administration is suspect, and I urge MSU to account for the origins of funding for this blasphemous group.

Taylor will not bring about any intellectual discussion or analysis of Flat-Earth theory issues and his lecture can only serve to further confuse and frighten people with his blasphemous Spherical-Earth theories. This is why I demand that the MSU administration cancel the Jared Taylor event and take action against blasphemous speech on campus.

Well, obviously rationality and scientific research should be outlawed because they cause people to come up with socially dangerous ideas. Watson knows something about that.

Posted by ex-liberal at 7:43 AM on February 5

Speech that is neither controversial nor repugnant requires no protection under our Constitution. Why should it? To the contrary, the topics and issues likely to be covered by Jared Taylor are precisely the kinds of speech needing protection. When the opinions of those who go against the mainstream are successfully deemed “hate speech”, and therefore disallowed from public discourse, that’s when the notion of free speech becomes meaningless. Europe is going down that road presently to their doom. Is that the road we will soon take in this nation as well? Political correctness are not benign words, but a restriction of expression, and utimately a restriction of thought as well. Good luck, Mr Taylor.

Our side will usher in people who will be judged to listen to the speech , q & a.

These people / students think that they are so entitled that they can step all over the idea of free speech. In their world of rap music and the MTV nation the founding fathers just aren’t very cool. Keep in mind MSU loves affirmative action. They wanted diversity so badly, they’ve dumbed down their student body.

Im new to AR. I do plan on attending. After reviewing some of Mr.Taylors excellent debates and speeches online, I have no doubt he will make short work out of their “diversity is strength” beliefs. That said, these people don’t care about facts and reality. Theirs is a ideal world for mankind, just as Marx, Chairman Mao, Pol Pot had. Ultimately your dealing with whackos…

Posted by Jimmy at 11:47 AM on February 5

This, if handled in a smart fashion, will help our cause greatly. We should hope for a massive outbreak of violence, since then, and only then, will the media show up and mention this.

Mr. Taylor should bill himself as: The Most Hated White Man in America. He should then have all his promo material stress how he is not invited on the Hannity, Limbaugh, Savege, Levin or any angry right-wing talk show. Then mention he is kept off CNN, ABC, CBS and FOX due to his anti-establishment and anti-Bush views.

You promote like that and the college kids will pack the place. College kids love controversy. They love the person who attacks the “status quo”.

Don’t ever call yourself “pro-white” or even use the word “race”. Call yourself a “community activist” working to defend your people from the media-industrial empire out to destroy local communities and people’s rights of choice.

You get the idea.

Posted by LOGIC at 12:12 PM on February 5

These people are usually about supporting every non-white cause and group, and blaming whites for all evil in history, and evil’s continuation in the present. In other words, hating whites. Then they have the nerve to proclaim that anyone who isn’t hating whites enough, or in the proper way, is doing ‘hate’.

“Speech that aims to portray people of color as less than human and innately inferior is both morally repugnant and an assault on basic human rights.”

Too bad for these idealistic dreamers that Jefferson, Taney, and Lincoln all did the evil deed of seeing blacks and then speaking what they saw. Anyone who reads the words of these three where speaking of the differences between the races is committing a hate crime just for letting the words into their mind and thereby enabling their rationality to assualt basic human rights.

Forget freedom for whites! The time has come for supremacy of delusions! And if we get it wrong, its the whites who pay the price, and they will glady do so because they always are looking for a way to look virtuous.

BRAVO!

When I first read this the only thing I thought I would change is the word “please”. My gut response was that it’s simply pearls before swine, and maybe they would gloat, confusing the manners of a Gentleman with the desperation of a begger.

Either way it’s a fine letter and today I will send my own to the University.

However, another thought came to mind, and has to do with what I think is the number one problem in the country, a problem that effects our ability to live fully in Reality.

It would require too much space to be thorough (though I’m currently working on finding such space) so I’ll be brief.

My point is that most people today simply do not come from Families that modeled Democratic behavior. The reason has to do with Abuse and Neglect in their various guises. Or, the opposite, ie; being spoiled.

I also think that Movies and TV do not provide such models, and as everyone knows, most people rely on such Media, ie; they don’t read. But even in that department one is not always on safe ground, and is hard pressed to find people truly tolerant, and well-versed in their field.

Nothing makes ANY sense to Humans unless it’s demonstrated (non-verbal) and explained (verbal).

To be blunt, we’re losing the West because the West is not acculturated - with itself. We don’t have an updated relationship with ourselves. Hence our inability to live in Reality. I think the Realism movements, Race Realism, Immigration Realism, to which I would add the all important but lesser known Family Systems Psychology, are all symptomatic of a growing concern to get us on the right track. The only track their is - Reality.

…………………………..
Such misrepresentation! I am not aware that Mr. Taylor considers “people of color” as “less than human” or has ever claimed any such thing; nor even “innately inferior” [to whom?]. He simply holds that there are differences amoung human groups, and that each group deserves its own living space unencumbered by others.

In fact, by supporting separation, he is ironically more of a champion of “Diversity” than the doctrinaire miscegenationists who would like to get us all scrambled and eliminate human diversity.

If challenged, I would like to see how they would answer to THAT.

“Taylor’s abhorrence of non-white races, as formed into lectures advocating the subjugation of any person who is non-white, are not protected under the Constitution”

Two things-

1)Then neither is YOURS.
2) Doesn’t our founding documents talk about ‘3/5ths a person’ in counting non-whites?

If Mr. Taylor and those of us who agree with his views look at it consistently, then WE are the more consistent Constitutionalists, and you are denizens- not of this country- but of an ideology that comes under the rubric, of ‘enemies, foreign and domestic.’

I’d like, then, to use my 2nd Amendment rights on such as these…..if you follow my drift.

Taylor should get the Hell’s Angels as his bodyguards when he speaks.

What, so we can have another Altamont on our hands?

The Hells’ Angels acted in self defense. If they were body guards at this event I would not see a problem with it. “Keyboard Kommando’s” do not make a good security team.

Hi Howard, actually, my remark was more just kind of joking, but there was a serious side.

In one way I agree with you, or whoever thinks we should have security. And I think a group of well-disciplined, well-organized, and courteous men from 21 to 40, even 50 years old (I’m sure we all know at least one person in their late 40’s still capable of doing some serious damage) will help get the message across that we will not tolerate being violated in any way.

But nothing sloppy! That was my point.

Also, the self-defense thing at Altamont is just not true. It was crowded and there was no way you could avoid brushing up against their bikes, let alone knocking them down. There were gangs of Bikers with pool cues beating up a bunch of stoned Hippies. It was more like hunting for blind, lame deer with a submachine gun. Not very sporting, and self-defense never entered into the picture at all.
