Months After Noose Crime, Investigation Continues Without Suspect

AR Articles on Hate Crimes and Hoaxes
More news stories on Hate Crimes and Hoaxes
Lisa Hirschmann, Columbia Spectator (Columbia University), January 25, 2008

The New York Police Department’s hate crimes task force continues to investigate the Oct. 9 hate crime at Teachers College but remains without suspects in the incident involving a noose found on an African-American professor’s door.

{snip}

A test performed on the rope used to form the noose yielded no DNA that could be used to identify the perpetrator.

Furthermore, a review of the security videotapes subpoenaed by Teachers College produced “no valuable information,” confirmed Deputy Inspector Michael Osgood, who heads the investigation. The police subpoenaed the video tapes at TC’s request, as the school could not otherwise hand them over due to privacy concerns.

Osgood insisted that the hate crimes task force will continue to work on the case as long as information resources remain untapped. “We will maintain discipline through the investigative process, we will exhaust all investigative pathways, and whatever that yields . . . that will yield some result,” he said.

{snip}

The Teachers College administration and its Office for Community and Diversity plan to continue to address students’ concerns about the incident with numerous initiatives, including brown bag lunch discussions, a partnership with the Anti-Defamation League to educate faculty on managing conversations about race in the classroom, and the reevaluation of faculty hiring and the curriculum.

Teachers College Student Senate President Michelle Cammarata said that she believes, however, that students have turned their focus away from the investigation of the crime and toward the diversity and community issues highlighted by the incident.

Meanwhile, a bunch of NYC cops just keep getting fatter off Dunkin’ Donuts while waiting for more “leads”.

Posted by underdog at 6:00 PM on January 29

Could it be that the cops are in-fact “hiding” evidence pointing towards the fact that an “African-American”, possibly even the professor himself, put the noose there?

And I’m sure the New York City Police Department has more “pressing” cases than a noose on a proffesor’s door…

Posted by Obscuratus at 6:09 PM on January 29

Hanging a noose is an unfortunately an expression of hate, but it is free speech, just like kill whitey rap so called music is.

Posted by Peejay in Frisco at 6:13 PM on January 29

It was the black lying racist professor from Columbia; another fake bias crime that they love to perpetrate in their sick little anti-white minds. Don’t worry about this black professor being convicted of her own racist hoax, she’ll get off “Scot free” by a ” HUNG JURY ” of her black peers.

Posted by Michigan patriot at 6:37 PM on January 29

“…students have turned their focus away from the investigation of the crime and toward the diversity and community issues highlighted by the incident.”

Smart move, lest the investigation ultimately reveal this to be another “noose on the loose” hoax.

This is all much ado about nothing. I can’t believe the NYPD is still wasting time on this baloney.

Oh they know damn well who hung the noose. It wasn’t a white person. In order to prevent embarrassment, they will delay the investigation long enough for people to forget about it.

Posted by at 7:50 PM on January 29

The black professor who reported the noose was the person who hung it. The university refused to hand over the security camera tapes to the police. The video tapes must show the professor hanging up the noose. It would not be the first time a black did this to start trouble.

This might be the last we hear of this story before it goes into the vault where they keep the other mysterieslocked away, like Jack the Ripper’s true identity or who was on the grassy knoll in 1963.

Where is everyone here from that race is such a big issue and consumes people’s thoughts all day and night? Some of us live in places where race is hardly a concern.

Do you know how much it costs to run a DNA test?

Still looking for the perp? Is O.J. in charge of this investigation? He’s still looking for the real killer.

“a noose found on an African-American professor’s door.”
_______
Who could have done this horrible deed? Who?

Posted by at 10:24 PM on January 29

“Teachers College Student Senate President Michelle Cammarata said that she believes, however, that students have turned their focus away from the investigation of the crime and toward the diversity and community issues highlighted by the incident.”

I suspect the noose was planted by the sympathizers of those who are trying to highlight diversity issues in the community. What better way to engender sympathy from an indifferent public than to create the illusion of persecution?

Could this be why it recieved so much media coverage until the police viewed the video tapes, at which point there was a sudden silence from the mass media. Did the video tapes reveal the professor or one of her henchmen commiting the crime?

How many “hate” crimes are faked and how many are real? I’ll bet a whole lot more of the ones that make national news are faked than ones that don’t. The pro-race mixing agenda needs demons to fight so that it appears to be heroic. The agenda also needs carefully controlled “displays of hate” to maximize the impact the events have on the public mindset.

A couple of honest investigators could wreck havoc on such an agenda. All “hate” crime fakers out there will do well to remember that.

Posted by True Resistance at 10:39 PM on January 29

“The New York Police Department’s hate crimes task force continues to investigate the Oct. 9 hate crime at Teachers College but remains without suspects in the incident involving a noose found on an African-American professor’s door.”

This might be a stupid question, but: If they don’t even have any suspects, how can they consider it a “hate crime”? Does that mean that even if it was another black person, or a Hispanic, or an Asian or even the Professor herself that hung the “noose”, that it is still a hate crime?

Furthermore, a review of the security videotapes subpoenaed by Teachers College produced “no valuable information,” confirmed Deputy Inspector Michael Osgood, who heads the investigation. The police subpoenaed the video tapes at TC’s request, as the school could not otherwise hand them over due to privacy concerns.

I’m guessing that by “no Valuable evidence” they mean they can’t find a White perp to hang this one on!

Well AtheistNonracistWhiteAmerican, I suggest you move into Newark, Detroit, or Oakland, and then you will find that race is a concern whether you’d like it to be or not.

Posted by WR the elder at 10:40 PM on January 29

So the investigation into this incident is ongoing, almost four months after the fact? Tapes have been subpoenaed and dna tests run on the rope?

I wonder what all of this is costing taxpayers? I guess no expense is too great when it comes to ALLEGED hate crimes against blacks. Anyone care to guess if the same resources are used when a hate crime is perpetrated against a white?

And as far as the tapes not shedding any new light on this incident? I dont believe that.

“Where is everyone here from that race is such a big issue and consumes people’s thoughts all day and night? Some of us live in places where race is hardly a concern.”

First, Atheist-non-whatever, I am from pre and post Katrina New Orleans where for 12 years I lived in majority black neighborhoods, worked in majority black staffed jobs and was a victim of several black perpetrated crimes. I now live in South Minneapolis where I have now been victim to a couple of Hispanic perpetrated crimes. I have yet to be victimised by another White person, Asian or Indian. I’ll keep you posted.

Second, What makes you think that the people who post here are “consumed day and night by thoughts of race?” This is a web-site about race relations in America, what else do you suppose people would talk about here? The weather?

Lastly, not all of us live, or can afford to live in an “ivory tower” or gated-community. If you live in a blue-collar middle-class community that is NOT plagued with racial crime/ violence or unrest then please give us your location. I, and I’m sure many readers of this site would love to find and move to just such a paradise.

Thanks, and P.S.

In the future, try not to look down your nose at those of us that DO have to live in the real world where we ARE targeted for being White. Try to remember that 99% of the posters here have no outright animosity toward minorities and that we just want to be left alone to raise our families in peace and safety and to preserve OUR history and Heritage and Culture just as every other race is Encouraged to do.
Have a Nice, Safe, Peaceful Day in your community of little racial concern.

oh yes we must get to the bottom of this horrific hate crime agaisnt humanity. call out the FBI, notify the UN, have president bush make mention of this in his state of the union message (uh oh too late for that). alert the world press, call for mass protest marches up and down the nearest street. until we find which evil white racist is responsible for this crime …..oh and one other thing, just in case a person of color did this, like maybe the professor himself??? (ahh no, never, not possible, perish the very thought) make sure to back pedal and tone it down and just kind of swept the story under the rug.

I don’t think anyone on Amren is condoning the hanging of the noose, but most of us on Amren believe that the incident is a hoax, most likely perpetrated by the professor herself to get the sales up on the book she released at the same time as the incident.

Is it the best *you* can do, when it comes to communicating with others?

“By the way, approving that noose on the black professor’s door is basically admitting that one doesn’t care for university rules.”

Oh dear, university rules! The whole thing’s just awful, isn’t it? Will you be as outraged when the whole thing turns out to be a hoax (which is exactly what will happen)?

“Teachers College Student Senate President Michelle Cammarata said that she believes, however, that students have turned their focus away from the investigation of the crime and toward the diversity and community issues highlighted by the incident”

I used to read quite a lot of science fiction, and in “1984” and other books in the same genre you might find something like this article, as a form of heavy-handed satire. It’s just incredible to see that people are actually saying this kind of thing with a straight face. I feel as if I’ve stumbled into some kind of alternate universe.

I live in one of those places where race is rarely an issue too.

I’ll bet you can guess which race is the majority in my area (Blacksburg, VA.)

Blacksburg used to be a dangerously homogenious White culture but has become more and more diverse over the years. As luck would have it however, a member of the diverse “enrichment” killed 33 people and wounded several others at the local college (VA Tech) last April. He attended classes that spoke out against White privledge. Sung Hei Cho, the killer, celebrated diversity during the shooting by slaying members from a variety of races; most of the people in the classrooms were White though.

In all, I think the massacre has taught the people of Blacksburg that diversity is nothing to take for granted. The Liberals around here even want to increase the amount of diversity so that we the community, will continue to be enriched and thus saved from our dangerously high level of Whiteness.

With friends like these, who needs enemies?

Posted by True Resistance at 2:15 AM on January 30

Wouldn’t a simpler so;ution to the noose situation be to simply say oh look a noose I wonder what moron hung that there? Then take the noose untie the noose and you have a handy tie-down rope for the SUV. I think everybody is milking a situation for their own political benefit where if the action was simply ignored it would quickly lose its appeal.

Yes, AtheistNonracistWhiteAmerican, you may not be interested in race, but race is interested in you. The “people of color” now surrounding your liberal cloud-cuckoo land may not share your vision of a race-blind society. Indeed, there is no reason to suspect that they will.

Without question, most black people do. Including the “African-American studies” professor who hung that noose on her own door to scapegoat and harass whites.

Posted by Bernie at 9:32 AM on January 30

So, without any new leads, it remains hanging (pun intended) that some supposed low-life, white racist, committed this horrible “hate crime.” When in fact, it is entirely possible that police know exactly who hung that noose and are just covering. I have a great deal of respect to the police in this country. My Dad was a cop in Baltimore City, when you could still pound heads with your billyclub but it’s not completely impossible that the police aren’t being as forthcoming as they should be regarding this incident.

I don’t know how old you are or where you’ve been living for the past 40 years, but most of us who post on this site, don’t spend day and night thinking about race. However, it’s pretty hard to put it away when the news media and our politicians continue to fan the flames.

As I said above, I don’t know how old you are but I can tell you that I was around during the riots of the 60’s. I saw what a mob of uneducated and tribalist people can do to one city. I’ve seen what they’ve done to every school in Baltimore City. What was once one of the best high schools in Baltimore City, Northern High School, has now been deemed one of the most dangerous in the country. My question - Why? We all know why.

Saying these things doesn’t make me a racist - it has made me a realist. It doesn’t make those of us who post on the website racists. We are just more in tune to what’s really going on despite our goveernment’s best attempts to keep us at each other throats and focused away from what they are really doing. And guess what, it’s working.

Posted by Gayle at 9:50 AM on January 30

Posted by AtheistNonracistWhiteAmerican at 9:13 PM on January 29

Your ignorance must be bliss my friend. Whites aren’t apt to think of race as we’ve always been taught that doing so is a bad thing, others are urged to do so in an act of “diversifying” the area. The result really is that non-whites think of race far more than whites, as they’ve been taught to do so. This is basic stuff, how you can not comprehend it is anyones guess. Mines on that you are a hopeless bleeding heart hell bent on fighting “evil racists” without any kind of open mind at all, like most other liberals.

As for the noose, ill state it again as others have. We believe it a hoax, and if you’d done a minute of research you’d see why. the professor complaining about said noose did not want the security camera footage out. one can only imagine why, perhaps he wanted attention and put it there himself? think outside the box. Besides.. I myself think it ridiculous for them to be pursuing whoever did this anyway, as im sure the police have better things to do than search for that “evil racist culprit” that hurt that mans “feelings”. I think they’d simply laugh at you before hanging up, if someone white called complaining that they found a “Kill whitey” sign in their office.

Posted by Stuck in No Mans Land at 10:32 AM on January 30

Amazing. The police and FBI investigate something that is not a crime as if it were a crime. I wonder if they investigate rapes, murders and thefts as much as they investigate “hate crimes”.
Probably not, because rapes, murders and thefts are committed largely by blacks, and it’s Whites who are accused of “hate crimes”.

This is what passes for noose these daze?? Frankly, I am sickened by all this old noose. Oh well, no new noose is good noose.

Posted by cecil at 1:16 PM on January 30

I agree with the post above. If they had absolute proof that some white person had hung that noose, we would still be hearing about it 6 months after the incident happened. The MSM and the newspaper would have the person’s complete personal history and picture plastered on the front page of their newspapers everyday. But because the school wouldn’t turn over the tapes without a court order and the police are claiming that even after they have viewed them, they still don’t have even a suspect - well, most of know what the deal is.

What’s more probable?

Dim witted white person sneaks down hall and places noose on door knob, then sneaks away undetected by the security cameras.

Or

Black woman inside room opens door, sticks out black arm, slips noose on door knob and shuts door.

Again what’s more probable?

Security video shows white person putting noose on door knob, but police decide to not to tell public.

The only work being done on this investigation was the police press release written up after the request for an update from Columbia. The police know who did it and have (unofficially) dropped it to spare themselves the ordeal of naming the black professor in public. The Columbia administration knows who did it, too, but they are too ideology corrupt to come out with the truth if it contradicts the worldview of the institution.

OK, I’ll take a stab and feed the troll.

I personally would like to not have race a 24/7 concern and in fact i don’t think about it all the time. However, I work in a black dominated civil service environment and I can tell you race boils over into everything that concerns my Afro colleagues. As a white male it was extremely hard to get my job and it will be extremely hard to get a (justly deserved) promotion. My Afro colleagues have no professional respect for me-I come in in the morning to racial/political diatribes (believe me there is no room for open dialogue) that are all about black rage and white guilt.

I turn on the TV after coming home from work and race is shoved down my throat-commercials that feature omnipotent blacks and feeble whites. ETC, etc, etc. And I really don’t believe you unless you live in Fantasyland (probably drug induced).

Good Post. How about this:

“In all, I think the massacre has taught the people of

It’s better to have a gun and not need it than to need a gun and not have it.

“…Some of us live in places where race is hardly a concern…”

Not for long if you value your life.

“…I live in Los Angeles where I’m forced to think race 24/7, by people of other races who only think about race 24/7…”

Posted by PincheGabacho at 12:18 AM on January 30

In Los Angeles it is a matter of life and death to NOT notice race every day. I see no harmony in LA only a growing hatred, animosity, distrust between racial groups—in the schools, neighborhoods, work places, malls, everywhere, and it’s getting worse not better. Is it any wonder Whites are leaving in droves?
(while those who create a third-world non-tax base and demand entitlements are welcomed?)

Those Whites who choose to stay must have a lot of money to live behind gates, in well-guarded communities, able to afford a private security firm and pay to send their children to very expensive private schools—on top of crushing taxes needed to pay for the aforementioned, benighted parasitic class. White communities (the few that are left) are prohibitively expensive for most.

I too have race shoved in my face every single day in the local schools. The school curriculum is decidedly, blatantly anti-White. How do you think non-Whites feel about Whites after being steeped for years in class after class in ethno-centric schools with anti-White textbooks that teach non-White children that Whites are responsible for ALL (and I MEAN ALL) of their problems (poverty, illegitimacy, low test scores and achievement levels, high drop-out rates, violent neighborhoods, health problems) are Whites’ fault—and that Whites Must Pay?

Luckily, I have escaped the PC insane asylum in a sense because I work with retarded young adults—I could not stomach having to teach Marxist debasement against my own people day in and day out.

BTW: I lay a lot of the White-hating blame on the schools of education.

From City Journal:

“…The average ed school, we found, has a multiculturalism-to-math ratio of 1.82, meaning that it offers 82 percent more courses featuring social goals than featuring math. At Harvard and Stanford, the ratio is about 2: almost twice as many courses are social as mathematical. At the University of Minnesota, the ratio is higher than 12. And at UCLA, a whopping 47 course titles and descriptions contain the word ‘multiculturalism’ or ‘diversity,’ while only three contain the word “math,” giving it a ratio of almost 16…”

Is it any wonder that the government-monopoly schools are NOT about education but about social engineering?

Where is this place where race is ‘hardly a concern?’ Is it on another planet?

Bon

AtheistNonracistWhiteAmerican: Do you seriously believe most people think and breathe race 24/7?

No, the only people I know of who think about race 24/7 are the race hustlers like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, and the professional mongers of diversity training. They lie and say they want us to get beyond color, and judge people by the content of their character, all the while demanding discrimination against whites and blaming white people for every problem they have.

The white people I know who think least about race live in nearly all white neighborhoods. There’s no easier place to be an enlightened white liberal. Just ask Hillary.

Keystone Cops

Three Stooges

Some guy who thinks he’s Columbo (he’s got the same trench coat, but no pants).

One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.

The cast of “Living Color”, only dumber.

An “incident” that will become a script for Spike Lee’s next bomb.

From BonBon

“In all, I think the massacre has taught the people of
Blacksburg that the Second Amendment is nothing to take for granted…”

Outside my satirical version of events (and diehard Liberals), this is indeed what seems to be the real outcome. The Liberals still want to use the shooting as a tool to push gun control, multiculturalism and big government but the difference I see is that far fewer independents are listening to them. Additionally, the Conservative and Libertarian elements seem to have grown in strength.

Posted by True Resistance at 3:46 AM on January 31

Another pointless job for our PC burdened Keystone cops, running in circles, apprehending nothing - including the ludicrousness of trying to track down a “crime” any adolescent can commit anytime, anywhere.

Posted by Gary at 1:20 PM on January 31

“Furthermore, a review of the security videotapes subpoenaed by Teachers College produced “no valuable information,” confirmed Deputy Inspector Michael Osgood, who heads the investigation.”

Teachers College Director of External Affairs Joseph Levine expressed confidence in the police investigation on behalf of the administration. “They’re working on it, and we’re cooperating with them. We feel they’re being thorough,” he said.

Does anyone know who this D.I. Osgood is? I’ll wager there’s a good chance he’s black, especially being head of the Hate Crimes Unit. He and Director Levine are not going to find an answer to this mystery. Whether the actual “crime” happened or not, it serves the purposes of the ADL very well.
