Drug cartels are trying to influence the outcomes of major elections in Mexico by kidnapping and threatening candidates, according to Mexican Attorney General Eduardo Medina Mora.
The remarks by Medina Mora, released by his office Friday, underscored the Mexican government’s growing willingness in recent months to acknowledge the threat drug cartels pose to the nation’s fragile democracy. The problem is most severe, Medina Mora said, in the border states of Baja California and Tamaulipas, and in Michoacan, the home state of Mexican President Felipe Calderon.
“We have evidence, complaints from candidates who were kidnapped or intimidated, or who received threats intended to influence the results of an election and the behavior of candidates,” Medina Mora told the Spanish newspaper El Pais, according to a transcript of the interview.
Medina Mora did not disclose the names of candidates who have been kidnapped.
Mexico’s drug cartels have been involved in a major turf war over the past two years, sparked in part by the arrests of several top drug lords, whose rivals have tried to seize control of vulnerable trafficking routes. Medina Mora said drug killings rose from 2,350 in 2006 to 2,500 in 2007.

Rumors of drug cartels trying to influence elections are rampant almost every time Mexican citizens cast ballots. But such rumors are seldom acknowledged by public officials.

And it’s all coming here because of the apathetic citizenry we have. The politicians will do nothing unless kicked in the butt to do so. Period.

Just think, this terrorism is coming to a political area near you soon. Thanks to treasonous ,corrupt, unconstitutional political parties since the 1965 Immigration and Reform act which destroyed representation but not taxation of original Americans—-the Euro-stock culture.

Didn’t we hear a lot of propaganda awhile back about how Mexican elections are so much more pure than American ones because there isn’t any problems with counting votes? Stalin once said that it didn’t matter who cast votes, it only matters who counts the votes. Maybe both really don’t matter anymore — what matters is who influences the politicians.

The US government is trying its very best to emulate the fine example of mexico and most other latin american nations; destroy the middle class, and have an incredibly powerful and wealthy White elite run the show as lords of an impoverished mass of mixed-raced consumerist slaves.

Our immediate neighbor to the south is a Narcostate. It would make sense to diligently defend our southern property line.

Here’s a translated excerpt from an article about a narco assassination in Mexico from the May 20, 2007 edition of Proceso, a weekly Mexican magazine of news reporting and analysis:
“…they cut off his legs with one slice, possibly both legs at once. Before he had bled out, they cut off his arms. And it can’t be determined if the ten nails that formed a “Z” in his forehead were hammered in before or after he died, but it was established that it was done before he was beheaded…the (victim) was a member of a family with three generations of hitmen.”
So I imagine politicians in Mexico find these guys’ threats pretty convincing.

Dr. Gutberlet,
I agree.
And it used to be a large healthy middle class contributed to a law and order society where everyone could go about their business with safety and little to fear.
In the future the wealthy white upper crust will NOT have have the nice stable society to travel about in freely.
They will have to have guarded and secure compounds and travel with armed guards in the future. They will be under constant attact by the those that don’t have and want your stuff.
Unless there is almost immediate civil war to correct things the future course is set.
