3 Months’ Jail, Whipping For Immigration Offender

An Indonesian was sentenced to three months’ jail and three strokes of the cane after he pleaded guilty to overstaying in the country.

Zaenal Mohamad Sukri, 31, continued to stay in the Sultanate after his social visit pass had expired on October 11, 2006. He was arrested by Immigration Enforcement personnel who carried out an inspection at a rented house in Kg Pelambayan on Friday.

Zaenal was one of ten foreigners who was staying at the house.
